Role of the Prioress
The prioress is the leader of the community, chosen to serve for a six-year term. As prioress, she represents the community with donors, other communities, and the public. She also selects a subprioress, treasurer, and monastery coordinator to form the administration team. This team works together to help the community prosper and advance in faith, serving in their roles for as long as the prioress.
The current prioress is Sr. Anita Louise. The photo here was taken at the grave of Mother Benedicta Berns, who was the community’s first prioress, appointed in 1867.
