A native of Evansville, Indiana, she has both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education. Sister Mary George has a heart for the poor, and for many years collected needed items for poor children in schools in Berea and the Kentucky Appalachia area, and for directors of religious education in Edwardsville, IN and Owensboro, KY. She’s also served by calling donors and going on calls for Mission Advancement, while continuing to tutor children struggling in school or assisting in the retreat center.

She and her late sister ran a reading center for children in Evansville for many years. She currently serves in our Prayer Ministry. She also loves music and Spanish. Sister Mary George, we hope your special day is as sweet as you are!

Her niece, Laurette Kissel Faraone, wrote a story for The Message reflecting on Sister Mary George’s life and accomplishments. She states, “The world has been graced with her beautiful, kind and loving presence for a century!”
