Manual Labor
Benedict calls for us to do manual labor. This may seem a little old fashioned, but I think that it is important to take care of things.
Some of our sisters are very dedicated to working in the monastery’s garden from which we enjoy many fresh vegetables. I do not have much of a green thumb — I can’t tell the difference between a weed and a plant — so I don’t help often in the garden.
If you would like to volunteer, we do have others come and help us. For example, my dad for the last few years has been coming and tilling the earth for us in order for us to plant. If you go to our website there is a page that you can fill out to volunteer. Come spend some time with us!
