Lunch with the Sisters

When students come for the day at the Monastery and they are having lunch, I like to invite other sisters to join us. This is a time when students can ask questions and talk with sisters about our life.  Many of these students have never met a sister before, and this might be the only time they will have to talk to a religious person. I like to walk around, listen to the conversations, and see the smiles on students’ and sisters’ faces. Sometimes I notice students who have been really quiet at the beginning of the conversation start to open up more when sitting and talking to a sister. I also see the sisters who are more reserved start opening up to the students. Sisters who have been teachers in their ministry days glow, and I can see the love they have for helping students know who we are.
