All Souls Day

On November 2, Catholics will observe All Souls Day, officially designated in the Roman Rite liturgy of the Church as The Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed.  It’s a day set aside to pray, light a candle and even fast for the souls of those who have passed away and who are dear to us.

Each year, the Sisters of St. Benedict in Ferdinand observe All Souls Day by praying for the Sisters in our religious community who have passed away.  The names of those dear Sisters will be placed in a basket, which is carried in a procession to the monastery cemetery where prayer is offered for those departed souls.  The procession then returns to the church, where a candle is lit and those names are written in a book.

This year, we are inviting you to be part of our observance of All Souls Day.  If you have lost someone, and would like them to be part of our procession and prayer on All Souls Day, we invite you to send us the name of your loved one.  We’ll include their name in the basket we carry to the cemetery for prayer and back to the church.

Enter your loved one’s name into the form below to add them to our All Souls Day procession.
