A Common Table

As I was looking through my pictures, I came upon the one below and I think of the joy that the sisters have in this picture as they are enjoying a meal together. 

Benedict asks us to have a common table. It is important to us to take time out of our day to spend together in our community. This is especially easy at meal time when we have the opportunity to share who we are and how the day went. 

With a community our size, we can also sit with different sisters during each meal. This is also a little bit of a drawback because you can easily hide. It does take some effort to share with the other sisters who you are, but this is a great way to get to know each other. 

In the Benedictine community, it is important for us to know each other. I could tell you something about each sister in the community.  Do you have friends that you are intimate with?
