Student Retreat Focuses on Holiness
A group of 7th graders from Holy Redeemer Catholic School in Evansville, Indiana recently spent a meaningful and memorable day on retreat at the monastery. The day was centered on the theme of their personal call to holiness—an invitation for each student to recognize how they are uniquely called to live out goodness, love, and purpose in their everyday lives.
Throughout the retreat, the students engaged in thoughtful discussions about the gifts and talents they each bring into the world. They were encouraged to consider how even small acts of kindness, compassion, and service can make a lasting impact in their communities. These conversations created space for reflection, but also for sharing, as students listened to one another and discovered new perspectives.
One of the highlights of the day was a lively scavenger hunt, which offered both fun and learning. As the students explored their surroundings, they also gained a deeper appreciation for the community and its values. The activity fostered teamwork, curiosity, and a sense of connection to something larger than themselves.

A particularly special moment came when the students joined the sisters for Midday Prayer. Following prayer, the sisters shared lunch with the students, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere filled with conversation and fellowship.
The retreat concluded with Mass, bringing the day to a meaningful close. It was a time to gather, give thanks, and reflect on all that had been experienced and learned. The combination of prayer, discussion, activity, and community made the retreat a truly enriching experience.
Overall, it was a joyful and fulfilling day—one that left a lasting impression on everyone involved. The students returned home not only with memories of fun and friendship, but also with a deeper understanding of their faith and the unique role each of them plays in the world.
