Sister Theresita wins Karen Bell Caring Award

On October 11, 2018, at the Area Wide Residents’ Council, Sister Theresita Schenk received the Karen Bell Award. This award is a service award given to those living in a nursing facility who are not only outstanding residents, but who also serve others in the facility. Other criteria for the award include someone who is helpful to other residents, encouraging of residents and staff, and has a positive attitude. Sister Theresita embodies all of these qualities, so it was no surprise (except to her!) that she won this award.

Here is what was written about her:

Sister Theresita Schenk goes the extra mile to help others by playing the keyboard for the sisters in Hildegard Health Center Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for their morning prayer and playing the organ  Monday through Friday for their evening prayer. Sister Theresita also plays the keyboard or piano for sing-alongs, Lenten services, and other special services such as May crowning for the sisters in Hildegard. Sister is an accomplished musician, composer and has taught music and voice to hundreds of students over the years.

Sister Theresita is definitely an asset to the Hildegard Health Center community of sisters. She has served as a past president of the Resident Council and is currently the leader of another group in Hildegard. Sister is generous and always so positive about everything. She is kind to everyone and willing to help others in playing games they are not sure about.”
