In Memoriam: Sister Mary Rose Hasenour

Sister Mary Rose Hasenour, 79, of Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, Indiana, died at 3:15 a.m. on Thursday, November 26, 2020, at the monastery.

Sister Mary Rose was born on July 27, 1941 in Fort Branch, Indiana, the eldest of ten children of Walter G. and Hilda (Kiesel) Hasenour. She entered the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand in 1959 and made her profession of monastic vows in 1961. She celebrated the 50th anniversary of her profession in 2011.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother George. She is survived by her brothers, Martin, Richard, Thomas, Paul, Fred, Tim and Stephen; and her sister, Julia Market.

Sister Mary Rose worked in housekeeping and supportive services at the Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, St. Joseph Hospital in Huntingburg, St. Meinrad Archabbey, Lark Community House in Siberia, Indiana, and Dove House in Jasper. She most recently served in the Ministry of Prayer at Hildegard Health Center in Ferdinand.
